Our contribution to sustainability: Together with the Swiss designer Gabriela Byrde, IDC presented again Villageworks, the leading Cambodian fairtrade exporter of handicrafts, for the fifth time at the trade fair AMBIENTE 2023 in Frankfurt. Villageworks latest collections of bags and accessories made from recycled material and textile fabrics met with high interest of European importers at the world’s largest consumer goods trade fair.

Villageworks was one of the most successful project beneficiaries on the German market of the Cambodia High Value Silk Project implemented by the International Trade Center (ITC) 2013-2015 with support of our consultants. Villageworks is a socially oriented enterprise and a guaranteed member of the World Fair Trade Organisation (WFTO). It provides income and employment to about 100 highly skilled community-based women in rural areas and has about 50 staff in their Phnom Penh workshop, many of whom are disabled persons.
